Delightful Desaccord

Thanks to one of my all time favourite blogs, decor8, I discovered Desaccord.

This is a French word, which means disagreement - perhaps this has something to do with disagreeing with the conventional...

How fabulously whimsical and unconventional are these delights...

For the Love of Baking

I have loved baking since I was a little girl – with a play play mixer, blending gooey flour and water concoctions – as I grew, I learned the importance of baking powder, eggs, and room temperature butter; all of which have gone a long way in making my creations a lot more palatable.
My love of baking lead to my long-time contemplation of opening a little baking business, and with unemployment looming, now is the ideal time.

I am lucky enough to have a friend, photographer and fellow blogger who shares my love of baking – and my enthusiasm for starting up a little business. .. And with all those titles under her belt, I am sure we will be great business partners.

Our intension is to create an online store with made-to-order baked goods, and homemade jams and pickles. All ingredients will be sourced locally, and only the best, and where applicable seasonal ingredients will be used. We are both so eager to start this venture, and even more eager to grow it.

While scrounging around for inspiration the other day I came across these gorgeous pictures saved in my blog archives, of a little store called BOBETTE & BELLE – Isn’t it just a dream come true!

I will keep you all posted on any and all further developments...

Open Doors

“When one door closes, another opens; but we often look so long and so regretfully upon the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us.”
- Alexander Graham Bell

Here's to open doors.
Have a great weekend friends.

The Time is Now

While scrolling through the latest tweets on twitter last Friday, one in particular stood out. It was a tweet by Holly Becker, of the amazing blog, decor8 - “I hope those of you currently hating your job can look to those of us out there who took a jump. I believe in dreams”. Holly launched decor8 in 2006, after many years in the corporate world, and has just published her first book, Decorate: 1000 Inspirational Ideas for Every Room in Your Home.

Having just taken an optimistic leap of sorts, my mind is plagued with wonder. Wondering exactly what it is that I want to do, and furthermore, whether or not it will be a sustainable. It is one thing knowing you want to do something awesome, something that brings you happiness – But doesn’t everyone. Ultimately, we need to survive, and is it really viable to do what you love?

I want to blog. I want to read books and magazines. I want to design my own range of clothing. I want to cook and I want to bake. I want to own a shop that encompasses all these things.

Now is the time... For the first time in months I am feeling creative, I am filled with the most incredible inspiration, and fantastic thoughts and ideas. I feel my heart racing, as I lie awake at night contemplating all the possibilities.

Weekend(s) in Pictures

I have been in hibernation for quite some time now, however, there have been a few occassions where I snuck out of my comfy cave...

Pursuing Awesomeness

Hello Friends,

A bit of exciting news... as of Friday, I resigned from my job.

Now, I know most people will find this more scary than exciting; however, surprisingly enough, I am taking the exciting route. I am currently on the hunt for a new exciting position, one where I feel eager to be going to work every day. I truly believe that it is so important to be happy in your job, especially when you consider the amount of time you spend at work.

So wish me luck as search for the most awesome position...as I fight through the general anxieties of interviews.

Dear Never Never Land

My beautiful neglected blog!
Oh how I miss you... I think about you always.
I wish I could spend all day with you - filling you with gorgeous imagery, and magical musings.
I have great plans for us, and ask that you wait patiently, while I do as best I can, to make these happen.
Know I will visit you always, even if just briefly. And when I can, I will leave you with a little keepsake to remind you of me.

I promise to find the time to do what I really love - blog.
